Description
Canadian Gold Maple Leaf coins are one of the longest-running gold bullion series in the world today. Introduced in 1979, this series has become an icon with its continued use of the sugar maple leaf design on the reverse and its evolving effigies of Queen Elizabeth II on the reverse. Now, 2020 1 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coins are available to you for purchase online from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
- Coins arrive inside of protective plastic flips, tubes of 10, or Monster Boxes of 500 coins!
- 41st issue of the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf 1 oz coin!
- Contains 1 Troy oz of .9999 pure gold in BU condition.
- Issued a face value of $50 (CAD) by Canada.
- Queen Elizabeth II is on the obverse.
- The sugar maple leaf is on the reverse.
The Royal Canadian Mint introduced the Gold Maple Leaf series in 1979. At this point in history, only the South African Gold Krugerrand was available to investors as a gold bullion coin. A growing Western economic boycott against South Africa as retaliation for its continued apartheid policies led to mints across the Western world introducing their own gold bullion coins.
In the first issue year, Canadian Gold Maple Leaf coins were available only as 1 oz gold coins with .999 pure gold content. By November 1982, the series got its first expansion and saw a boost in purity to 24-karat .9999 pure gold. That continues today and the RCM has added weights to the series in the decades since to attract investors at all levels.
On the obverse of 2020 1 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coins, you will find the right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This is the fourth-generation bust of the Queen on Canadian coinage and was designed in 2003 by Susanna Blunt.
The reverse face of 2020 Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coins features the sugar maple leaf. This design was created for the Gold Maple Leaf in 1979 by Walter Ott and is a staple of the series. It has proven so iconic that the mint uses it as the reverse design of the silver, platinum, and palladium versions of the Canadian Maple Leaf bullion coins.
These 2020 1 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf coins are available to you in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Individual 1 oz Gold Maple Leaf coins are shipped inside of protective plastic flips, while multiples are available to you in either mint tubes of 10 coins or Monster Boxes of 500 coins. All 2020 Canadian Gold Maple Leaf coins have radial lines in the background on both sides and a laser-etched maple leaf privy on the reverse for added protection against counterfeiting.
